Introduction

"The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page." ~ St. Augustine

One does not have to be a globe trotter or jet setter to be a true traveler. Trotting the globe and setting jets (whatever that means) are only some of the more expensive, albeit exciting, offsprings of the yen for adventure and learning that characterize the Spirit of Travel. Read Stevenson's Treasure Island or Hyerdahl's Kon-Tiki, admire Toulouse Latrec's paintings of Paris life of yore, visit the wall dwellings of Petra through the Panoramio photos on Google Earth, learn about a culture other than your own--even within your own neighborhood--and you have begun your adventures as a traveler.

This blog chronicles both sorts of travel--the myriad adventures collected by traveling to new geographic locales, and the appreciation of new things both far and near, whether through art, film, dining, reading, or simple daydreaming. Enjoy!
